A Successful Theory

Our site - www.guerraproscrita.com - has been "on the air" for four years as of May 2004, based on a preliminary format from the book "The Banned War."

In time, we realized that the site should not be limited to the book "The Banned War," but should use the diverse experiences of the author, his concerns, the ideas he defends, his works, artwork painted and sketched, the poetry; in sum, it should reveal something of the author's professional, social and family life.

Today, Internauts are aware of the author's perseverence in spreading the call for PEACE and NON-VIOLENCE, calling on all citizens of the world to follow the commitment announced by at least 25 NOBEL PEACE PRIZE laureates, published in Paris on March 4, 1999, entitled "Manifesto 2000," released by the United Nations in its general assembly, with more than 100 million signatures.

In brief, the "Manifesto" states:

Respect Life (...),
Practice active Non-Violence (...),
Share my time and material resources (...), Defend the freedom of expression and cultural diversity (...),
Promote the practice of responsible consumption (...)
and Contribute to the development of my community (...)."

Encourage people to uncross their arms and sign on as "active pacifists." This, in addition to disputing the non-valuation of life, as a preliminary tenet of individual rights, is something you personally can do for the community.

The answer is interesting: we already have nearly 105,000 hits on our site, in nearly four years of proselytism - non-ideological, non-religious, non-discriminatory against race, creed, color or political party, enabling man to believe in human rationality, in a LASTING PEACE IN THE 21ST CENTURY.

We have good campaigns "on the air" stating the obvious, repeatedly denied by the powerful:

"Life has the same value at any latitude or longitude, for it is created by God!"

Thank you, friends!

Let us describe our book. It was written in three parts, with different approaches:

The basic text of PART ONE was elaborated nearly 40 years ago. For this reason, it retained its original title:

"How Much Did World War II Cost Brazil?" It was updated with access to data and documents unknown in 1963.
In PART TWO, entitled "The Cost-Benefit for Brazil of Participating in World War II," attempts to explain more explicitly the estimated global cost; and contrast it with depressing data of our socio-economic state at the time and the efforts to improve it, through 1960.
Finally, PART THREE reflects the title, PEACE THREATENED, my current state of spirit. In an unconventional manner, it deals with the polarization of world power, of globalization, of the evolution of weaponry and firepower, of the concept and ethics of war, of the administration of peace, of diplomacy and negotiation, of the hypotheses of conflict, of the defense of Brazil, of the crimes against humanity and, my final proposal, of the banning of wars. A world contemplated from the viewpoint of active pacifism.
